Dr Wallace Brownlee

Honorary academic director, MS Academy & consultant neurologist and clinical lead

Dr Wallace Brownlee is an MS specialist neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and MS researcher at Queen Square MS Centre, UCL Institute of Neurology. Dr Brownlee undertook neurology training in New Zealand before moving to London to complete PhD studies under the supervision of Prof David Miller and Prof Olga Ciccarelli. His PhD thesis and ongoing research focuses on the use of MRI to improve the diagnosis of MS; the identification of imaging predictors of long-term outcomes; and understanding mechanisms responsible for disability and disease progression in MS using advanced MRI. He is principal investigator on a number of ongoing phase III and phase IV MS clinical trials at Queen Square MS Centre. He is associate editor of Multiple Sclerosis Journal leading on case reports and social media.
