I am a Senior Lecturer at the Swansea University Medical School and an Honorary Research Lecturer at the Division of Brain Sciences, Imperial College London. My interest in the neuropathology of multiple sclerosis started with my first post-doctoral work at the UK MS Research Tissue Bank, London under the guidance of Prof Richard Reynolds. Although great strides have been made in treating those people with the early form of MS we still do not understand why some people experience a more severe, progressive disease. Our work looks at the pathomechanisms of progressive multiple sclerosis using patient samples, cell culture and post-mortem brain tissues.
